Dashboard Panels

Each Dashboard Panel performs a specific function for displaying Self Service Portal content. Panel information can either be customized by the user, filtered based on user profile or standard for all users. This section describes the function of each panel and how each panel content is derived.

The Dashboard Admin page allows you to add or remove items from the homepage. The left-hand side represents the left-hand navigation pane(s), the middle section is the main body of the homepage, and the right-hand side is for the right-hand navigation pane(s). This set up is the default setup. A user can change the order and location of of any of the items by dragging them to a new location. If Multiple languages are installed text translations should be added to each installed language.

Charts

Add a portlet of the type 'Charts. This will allow you to choose which chart from the Reporting that you want to show on the Dashboard.

This will guide you to the Reporting page, where a chart can be selected.

Click on 'OK' next to the chart that you want to show.

Drafts

A request form can be saved as a draft or templte, which can be reopened and completed at a later time. My Drafts panel provides a list of all request forms a user has not completed but saved as a draft or templte. These forms can be opened via Drafts panel and reopened for completion.

HTML text

Add a portlet of the type 'Html text'. This will allow you to enter contents in the configured languages.

This will guide you to the page to edit the Title & Content in different languages.

Click on 'Save' to save the changes and return to the edit screen of the Dashboard.

Click on 'Cancel' to discard any changes.

Dashboard Internal Messages

Add a portlet of the type 'Internal messages'. This will allow you to show any received communication (via email) by the End-User.

Messages

When adding a portlet of the type 'Messages', you will need to select a Message Category.

When editing the portlet of the type 'Messages', this screen is presented:

The following data can be entered:

  • Title : Enter the title in different languages

  • All Categories : check if you do not want to select which Categories are shown

  • Specify : select the Message categories that you want to show (if the box above is not selected).

  • Hide date : check this box to hide the date on each message.

Click on 'Save' to save the changes and return to the edit screen of the Dashboard.

Click on 'Cancel' to discard any changes.

When adding a portlet of the type 'Navigation', it will show the Navigation tiles that are available to the user.

Plain Text

Add a portlet of the type 'Plain text'. This will allow you to enter contents in the configured languages.

This will guide you to the page to edit the Title & Content in different languages. The fields are not HTML-enabled.

Click on 'Save' to save the changes and return to the edit screen of the Dashboard.

Click on 'Cancel' to discard any changes.

Quick Requests

When adding a portlet of the type 'Quick requests', it will show the Quick requests, as defined in Admin > Quick Requests.

My Favorites

My Favorites panel provides an area for users to save links to any form, topics or user specified urls. My Favorites configuration is specific to each user account. When a user account is deleted, the user profile including all My Favorite links will also be deleted.

The methods in which users can add Links to My Favorites are as follows.

Topics - Open Topic and click Add to My Favorites button.

Forms - Open Form and click Add to My Favorites button

My Profile - Select My Profile in the navigation bar and choose My Favorites tab. In the Add Favorite: section complete the Name and Link fields. Click Update to add to My Favorites.

(Summary) Views

Summary Views present a small tile with the short title of the View, and the number of tickets. This is only available in the left or right columns of the Dashboard.

Configuring the Dashboard Page

The Dashboard configuration section is available in the Admin panel. Panel layout as well as certain panel configurations are managed in the Dashboard section of the Admin panel.

Use this section to edit the Dashboard (Homepage), organize the different panels and set the correct title & welcome text.

Dashboard Panel Layout

Determining the best panel layout is strictly based on the Administrators preference and organizational requirements.

Positioning Panels on the Dashboard

The Homepage layout is defined in the Dashboard section of the Admin Panel. In the Dashboard admin page an entry is available for defining each panel location. The example below shows the set up of the Homepage shown in "Dashboard Panel Layout"

To change the position of an item, change the Column and Row or "Row & Column" and Position values. The panel layout is defined for all users of the Self Service Portal. Changes to the layout will affect all users.

Repositioning a Dashboard Panel

  1. In the Dashboard Settings of the Admin panel find the line entry for the Dashboard panel to be repositioned.

  2. Enter a new item by choosing an item from the drop-down at the bottom and click on Add. To remove the panel from the Dashboard, delete the current value and leave the entry blank.

  3. Click SAVE to save the settings. The changes will take effect immediately.
