# Add default ACLs

When creating a new template, no ACLs are created automatically. With the growing number of scopes, it would be a lot of work to add all ACLs one by one. Therefor, we added the button 'ADD DEFAULTS' at the bottom of the ACL-tab, when administrting Templates.

You can add the complete of ACLs within a service (this excludes the rights to create a new service - see below for more information). Select 'READ' or 'WRITE'. We selected WRITE for the screenshot below. Please note that only adding WRITE ACLs shows no data, you will need to add READ-ACLs as well.

Next, you are asked to link certain Personas to these rights. Select one or more Persona, select 'Everyone' for quick deployment of basic rights to all users.

2 options are presented next:

* ADD ONLY MISSING ACLs: this option will add ACLs for all scopes where no ACLs are defined. Use this option to complete your ACL setup.
* ADD ALL DEFAULT ACLs: this will add ACLs for all scopes, regardless if any other ACL is already defined.

Select CREATE to add 2 specific ACLs: Create new & Duplicate. These are the only 2 ACLs that control whether a user can add a new service within the template.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.smt-x.com/smtx-online-documentation/catalog/catalog-maintenance/templates/acl-access-control-lists/add-default-acls.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
